OPENING
Opening is a comprehensive website management system for art galleries. Opening was designed by artists with deep roots in the art world, tailored to translate any gallery's program from the walls to the web.

Opening allows gallery staff to manage website content for Artworks, Artists and Exhibitions securely via a web browser without prior knowledge of HTML. Opening also works with ArtBase, the leader in gallery inventory and contact managment software. Galleries that use ArtBase can upload content from ArtBase to their Opening Website with a push of a button.

Nick Bostrom's Home Page
Suppose we get many little things right and make some progress. What use, if we are marching in the wrong direction? Or wasting our resources on projects of small utility while pivotal tasks are left undone? What if we are profoundly mistaken about what matters most?

There are big potential gains from getting better at thinking about the right kinds of macro-questions, because at stake is our whole scheme of priorities.

Some of these questions are about moral judgment and values. Others have to do with rationality and reasoning under uncertainty. Still others pertain to specific concerns and possibilities, such as existential risks, the simulation hypothesis, human enhancement, transhumanism, and the singularity hypothesis.

My working assumption: These high-leverage questions deserve to be studied with at least the same level of seriousness, scholarship, and creativity that is routinely applied to all sorts of insignificant micro-questions.

This assumption might be wrong. Perhaps we are so irredeemably inept at thinking about the big picture that it is good that we usually don’t. Perhaps attempting to wake up will only result in bad dreams. But how will we know unless we try?

Tiny Music s/t C-40 (2008) $6 Buy Album
Tiny Music is an acoustic ensemble carefully constructing compositions utilizing a wide range of instrumentation and objects (including: broken glass, clarinet, popsicle sticks, overtone flute, spring motor, trombone, altered harmonica, etc., etc.). They also make mechanical (robot) devices that create unique sounds which are incorporated, if not spotlighted in certain pieces (reminiscent of Luigi Russolo's "Intonarumori").
There is a certain old timey charm to Tiny Music, as their live performances find them amongst the trees, down by the river, or other impromptu locations. This cassette marks the debut release by this Chicago quintet, and a fantastic endeavor it is. Limited to 100 hand numbered copies.
